Our solicitors prepare fixed fee simple wills for individuals and couples who want a professionally drafted will without unnecessary complexity. We make the process straightforward while ensuring your will meets all legal requirements and reflects your personal circumstances.
Even where intentions appear simple, professional advice can help ensure important details are not overlooked.

A simple will is usually suitable where you intend to leave your estate to your spouse, civil partner or partner, and then to your children, with no complex trust arrangements or unusual distribution of assets.
Despite the name, a simple will still needs careful preparation. Executors must be appointed, guardians for children considered and provisions included to ensure the estate can be administered smoothly.
Where mirror wills are prepared for couples, we will also discuss any joint assets such as the family home or joint bank accounts, as these can influence how wills should be structured.
Our simple wills start from £400 plus VAT and are prepared by experienced solicitors.

Making your will doesn’t need to be complicated.
What is a simple will?
A simple will is usually suitable when your wishes are straightforward. Most often this means leaving your estate to your spouse, civil partner or partner, and then to your children. The will also appoints executors to deal with your estate and can include guardians for children, funeral wishes and small gifts to family members or charities. Even where the arrangements are simple, it is still important that the will is prepared correctly so it works when it is needed. During our initial conversation we will talk through your circumstances and confirm whether a simple will is appropriate for you.
Can my partner and I make mirror wills?
Yes. Many couples choose mirror wills where their wishes are very similar. In most cases each partner leaves everything to the other, with the estate then passing to children if both partners have died. Although the wills often contain similar wording, they are still two separate legal documents. Preparing mirror wills together can make the process easier and ensures both wills work in a consistent way. When we prepare mirror wills, we will also discuss any jointly owned assets, such as your home, so that everything is reflected properly in the wills.
What do I need to think about before making a simple will?
You do not need to have everything worked out before speaking with us. It is helpful to think about who you would like to act as your executors and who you want to benefit from your estate. If you have children under 18, you may also wish to consider who you would trust to act as their guardians. During our conversation we will talk through your family situation and the main assets you own. From there we can guide you through the key decisions and make sure the will reflects your wishes clearly.
How long does it take to prepare a simple will?
Preparing a simple will is usually a quick and straightforward process. After an initial discussion about your wishes, we prepare a draft will for you to review. This gives you the opportunity to check that everything reflects what you want before the final version is produced. Once the wording is agreed, we arrange for the will to be signed and witnessed correctly. In many cases the process can be completed within a short period of time, depending on availability for meetings and signing arrangements.
What happens once my will has been signed?
Once your will has been signed and witnessed correctly, it becomes a legally valid document. The original will should be kept somewhere safe so it can be located when it is needed. Many people choose to store their will with their solicitors, which is why we offer complimentary secure storage. It is also sensible to review your will from time to time, particularly if your circumstances change, for example through marriage, the arrival of children or changes to your financial position.
